Wood Climbing Hold - Repurposed Fence Post.
Before I ever roped into a tree, I was scared of falling off a wall.
What hooked me was the puzzle of it. Every route a problem to solve, your body the only tool you get. Which hold, which angle, which shift of weight gets you to the next move without falling. I may have never been very good at it, but I chased that feeling for years before I ever picked up a chainsaw.
Turns out the puzzle never left. Dropping a tree limb by limb, dodging a roofline or a fence or a power line on the way down, is the same problem in a bigger key. Read it right, and everything lands where it's supposed to.
This hold started as an old oak fence post. The kind of thing most people would burn or haul to the dump. I saw one more problem to solve: how to give it a second life. This is my first climbing hold project. But I aim to make this a viable part of my retail operations as I connect with local climbing clubs and clubs abroad. Stay tuned for more to come.
